You might notice that the VA is credited as Anonymous for the time being, and that's mainly due to a situation they were recently in and insisted that I leave them credited as Anonymous, at least for now. I do hope they change their mind later, but I understand their situation. But we are still in good terms, like mentioned in the actual credits. I do intend to use this VA again. Now, when it comes to my part of directing the VA, I'm still fairly new at that. When asking for auditions, I didn't foresee how different the Pinkie Pie voice acting would have to be to what Pinkie normally sounds like. This animation is more of a confused and somewhat stunned take on Pinkie, where she doesn't understand what she's looking at, even though she's technically looking at herself. I probably still have quite a bit to learn in this department. For the animation itself, it perhaps didn't take TOO long. Though there are some head tilt movements I'm not sure I got right. But other than that... Not sure what else to say other than most of the secondary motion, like the mane, was done through "Wiggle Physics", which is an add-on being developed in Blender, and it's still pretty rough. It essentially applies physics to armature bones, sort of like what "Jiggle Physics" do in games. It's something I started using a while back to reduce animation workload on myself, as that was a huge drain. The background is fairly interesting. I modeled it entirely myself. It's based off of Pinkie's room in Sugarcube Corner. I modeled this all while I was still waiting on VAs to send in their auditions, as I had not much else to do but work on a better background. I never liked having simple backgrounds, and creating good backgrounds from scratch take so much time. But I had an opportunity to work on a decent background, so here it is! And finally, the rendering process was done through Sheep-It! I've used this service plenty of times before, and it especially helped in this scene where I had a complex INTERIOR background to render for each frame, as well as 500+ 1080p frames to render. It ended up being 80 cumulative days to render, which in real time took only about 24 hours. If I were to render this on my own hardware (One GTX 1070, and one RTX 2070), it probably would've been around a 40 day render. Sheep-It, for those who don't know, is a volunteer based Render Farm service for Blender where people can volunteer their machines to render projects that people submit there. Everything about it is free. I'm not sponsored by them or anything, but the service really deserves a shoutout by making rendering mostly a non-issue in terms of the time sink required to make it happen. The mane is just a bunch of layered meshes with alpha transparency. and having a bunch of meshes with alpha stacked close to each other can really have a major impact on render times.
