I've been sitting on this song for a *loooong* time -- like, since early 2012. Back then I just wasn't good at recording vocals, guitar, or doing any sort of production, so as my skills improved, I kept wanting to redo things and make em better -- do another take of vocals, another take of guitar, add more EQ, less EQ... The song was just in continuous limbo because I kept learning new things and kept wanting to patch up old mistakes with new tricks, never really pressuring myself to tear everything down and start from scratch which, honestly, I probably should have done... But I'm tired of sleeping on this song because I love it a lot: the lyrics and guitar work specifically. So I'm just putting it out there, flaws and all, and maybe one of these days I'll take an honest crack at doing the whole thing again with a little less "production". ------------------------------- LYRICS: I see the same sun rising up, and with it I feel the same old daily dust. I used to like to let the Earth just spin me around, but I've been standing too still and I will not be stuck to the ground. No I don't wanna stay. I just wanna go. Be taken by the wind whichever way it blows, I just wanna roam. I heard they've got lights burn as bright as the sun. You'd stay awake thinking that the day was never ever done. But here on the farm my body beats me to bed, but my mind makes maps from the ceiling's little cracks instead. And they all show a road that runs far away, I'll follow it a while, til the lights lead me astray. No I don't wanna stay.
