One of the poorest countries in the world, most people live on less than $1 a day. Adult literacy rates hover around 30 per cent and many girls never complete primary school. Many of the country’s current schools are staffed with poorly trained teachers who do not have access to the tools they need to do their job. The buildings themselves are ramshackle structures, many of them without latrines or a water source. This project will have an impact on thousands of children, building new schools, putting in clean water points, and building separate latrines for boys and girls. It will also focus on creating schools that are safe and healthy, providing decent meals for students who are all too often suffering from malnutrition, training teachers and parents on everything from gender equality to child protection to safety and hygiene. Student governments will be established to keep schools clean, safe and equitable, and parents and local officials will be engaged to help effectively run and manage schools. And everyone will have a chance at an education through community campaigns that will promote the importance of enrolling girls in school so they can build a brighter future for themselves and their families. XP What are you guys doing for Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa etc? This song was kind of an experiment to see how people would respond to the idea of a bunch of VA’s coming together and making a Christmas Song that isn’t owned/funded by Hasbro. :-P We were thinking of possibly doing a Christmas Album featuring even more VA’s and Session Singers next year. Thoughts? :-) Also, don’t know if you guys are aware yet, but my family recently released an album of original songs written and performed by every member of my family (Mom, Dad, Me, Nate, Naomi, and Susanna).
